Professional recognition
I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), Associate Fellow of the BPS and registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC). I adhere to the policies and guidelines published by the Health Care Professions Council (HPC) and British Psychological Society (BPS). For specialist areas of psychology, guidelines published by the Department of Health and the National Institute of Clinical Excellence are adhered to and awareness of published literature maintained.
To ensure that we maintain a high standard of professional and clinical practice, I receive regular supervision from experienced psychologists.
I am also committed to my continual professional development which enables me to keep up to date on new research and practice to offer you the best possible service I can.
Training
As a Counselling Psychologist I have had extensive training in assessing a range of psychological difficulties and determining the most appropriate form of help you will need. My main models of therapy include Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused CBT and Person-Centred therapy. Additional training includes that of Schema Therapy. Whilst I may use an integrative approach, more than one therapeutic model, in my practice I am equally able to use each therapeutic approach independently in accordance to your needs and the goals of therapy.
Work experience
During my 20+ years of clinical practice I have experience of working both in the NHS (primary and secondary care) and voluntary sectors (asylum seekers/refugees/substance misuse) as well as my private practice. This experience has included, although this list is not exhaustive, working with
