Introduction to Therapy
I offer a range of support services, this support may be to help you deal with:
- you have experienced one or more traumas in your life; these may have been recently or historically but they are still playing on your mind. Maybe sometimes you act ‘as if’ you are still caught up in the trauma in some way. This may be through re-living/avoiding certain situations/remaining vigilant to potential threat/numbness of feelings; these are actually quite normal if you have experienced a trauma/s.
- you are constantly thinking and worrying; you think you are going mad and your head is about to explode
- your relationship/s are not as you would want them to be and you don’t know how to change them
- you feel powerless generally in life; as if you are constantly being taken advantage of. You don't know how to change this or you feel guilty/shame if you do make attempts to change your way of relating
- you feel lost and empty inside, as if you’re on the outside looking in, and cannot identify what is causing you to feel this way
- perhaps you have an unhealthy relationship with work, food, alcohol which is causing you, and someone close to you, difficulties. You’ve tried to change but your mind just won’t allow you
these are just some situations that I can help you through.
Because you are here reading my webpages I suspect you have had enough of not feeling in control, whatever area of your life is being affected, and you are now ready to take action to change your situation. You want to worry less, feel happier and more content in your life!
My aim is to help and support you in achieving your goals in life whatever they may be. To get you to a place for example where your actions are no longer dependent upon what another person thinks. Where you are able to enjoy and get the most out of your life without worry, anxiety, depression or stress. A life where you are in control!.
You will need to have a thirst for knowledge of your concerns because it is this thirst that will set you free from your past. Therapy can help highlight what may be perpetuating your difficulties and keeping them alive.
The journey through therapy is an individual one where you will progress at our own pace, but I will be by your side supporting you. You will gain insight and acquire the tools, which may be through additional work outside the therapy room, to help relieve the symptoms that have brought you to therapy.
My goal as a therapist is to help alleviate you of frustrating, overwhelming and painful patterns and getting you “unstuck” as quickly as possible.
Having read the above you will probably, and quite rightly, want to how can I help you and what do I have to offer?
